Consultations

Consultations available from 8:30am Monday to Friday

 

Emergency/After Hours Service:

When unattended, a phone message will direct you to the emergency/after hours and home visit service GP Connect 8130 3333.

Waiting Time

It can be difficult to always run to time and delays are sometimes unavoidable. If the doctor is behind, the receptionist will inform you upon your arrival to the clinic.

Urgent Appointments

Provision is made for urgent appointments and they will always be given priority. If you need urgent assistance please let the receptionist know. 

Urgent appointments are not available through our on-line booking system.

General Appointments

Consultations normally last 10-15 minutes, however if you need more time, please discuss this with the receptionist when making your appointment. 


All Medicals require longer appointments.


If your family member requires an interpreter service, we can organize this for you. Please let us know when you make your appointment.

Cancelled Appointments

If you are unable to keep your appointment, PLEASE let us know as soon as possible so that we can make the appointment time available to someone else. 


A fee will be incurred for non-attendance without notice.

Home Visits

At GP's discretion where safe and reasonable our practice may make visits to regular practice patients in their homes, aged or residential care facilities.

Telephone Access

GP's in this practice may be contacted during normal working hours. 


If the GP is with a patient, a message will be taken and the reception staff will advise you when it is likely that the GP will return your call. 



Results

It is the policy of this practice for all patients to return to see their doctor for all test results. Please make an appointment after your test has been performed.

Recalls/Reminders

Our practice is committed to preventative care. Your doctor will seek your permission to be included on our reminder system. 

We may issue you with a reminder notice from time to time offering you preventative health services appropriate to your care. 

If you do not wish to be a part of this system please let your doctor or receptionist know.

Referrals and Sick Certificates

Patients need to make an appointment to see a Doctor for Referrals and Sickness certificates.This is a legal requirement of the Health Commission.

Prescriptions

All prescriptions and repeats require an appointment with your doctor.

Fees and Accounts

We are a Mixed Billing Practice, with bulk billing available only to valid concession/pension card holders and children under 16 years old for regular consultations. All other patient will be billed privately.

Please note that the minimum Gap Payment for standard consultation is $30. Patients will need to pay the full fee (medicare fee + Gap) at the time of consultation and claim back the rebate from medicare. Rebate can be claimed instantly and transferred to the patient's account via cheque/ saving bank card.


Private fee apply for all the consultations for which no medicare rebate is claimable this includes but not limited to Work or insurance related consultations or medicals, driver's license /pre-employment medicals, appointment for health screening forms including immunization history and other documentations etc. Such consultations cannot be billed to medicare therefore the payment is required at the time of appointment


Infection Control

Hackham Medical Centre follows the guidelines recommended by the Australian Medical Association and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners regarding infection control and sterilizing techniques.

Patient Feedback

Our practice operates according to the Australian Medical Association Code of Ethics. From time to time we may ask you to complete a confidential questionnaire giving your thoughts on the clinic and the services we offer. If you feel that improvements can be made, we are keen to hear your suggestions. While we believe that problems are best handled within the practice, you may choose to address you concerns to:
